ISB Fantasy Football Rules
This is a draft…
- Rule Proposal – referenced at this forum post
- Anyone in the league can propose a new/amend a rule
- A rule proposal should be posted in the forums for voting with an email sent to the mailing list (and optionally a post to Yahoo! if it is during the season)
- Voting should be open for one week after the voting begins (I think we can amend this to allow for an extension if someone is on vacation)
- A proposal shall require 2/3rds “yes” votes to pass
- Deadline for enacting a rule for a given year shall be any time before the fantasy draft of that year (proposal must be passed by this time)
- General
- Format: Head-to-Head
- Playoffs: 6 teams (#1 and #2 seed with byes); weeks 14-16 (8 teams in playoffs before 2008)
- Previous year’s winner gets to name the league
- Draft
- Draft Position: Reverse of regular season order; winner picks last
- Keepers
- 4 keepers per team per year; 4 year contract for all drafted players that were not keepers last year
- New Players
- During the draft, ALL players drafted in the draft are automatically given 4 year contracts. That means that all players drafted in the 2007 draft are exempt from the draft (if kept) for 2008, 2009, and 2010 ONLY.
- Example:
2007: Draft Player A, Player A given 4 year contract.
2008 keeper deadline: Player A now has 3 year contract.
2009 keeper deadline: Player A now has 2 year contract.
2010 keeper deadline: Player A now has 1 year contract. He must be made available in the 2011 draft. - This contract dictates the players remaining eligibility as a keeper. His contract date is set as the keeper deadline for each year.
- Each year at the keeper deadline, all kept players have their contract length deprecated by 1 year. If you have a keeper with a 4 year contract in 2007, that keeper has a 3 year contract at the keeper deadline of 2008.
- You are under no obligation to keep anyone you do not want. The contract term is only to make sure that players find their way back into the draft, as opposed to being permanently stashed on someone’s roster.
- Trades, waivers, other roster moves for keepers
- The league tracks keeper contract lengths only from keeper deadline to keeper deadline. It does not care where the keeper went during the season. His contract is set at the time of his original signing. If a player is traded, and kept, his keeper contract length does not change. If the player is waived and picked up between keeper deadlines, and then kept, his keeper contract length does not change. The contract length remains on the keeper as if he were neither traded nor dropped.
- Setting keeper length
- Keeper contracts MUST be set at the keeper deadline. Please indicate the type of contract by writing the number (1,2,3 or 4) next to the name of the keeper.
