Enter the chaotic world of Kevin Chan (aka Yoshi, Chanman and Jesus)

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures

Post could also be labeled as “Lazy, Lazy, Lazy”.

So, there is quite a haul of pictures.

Last Sunday, a bunch of us went to the recently reopened California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. Although we did not go to the planetarium (long lines and Shareena apparently got motion sick in the old one…and the new one looks even more motion sick-able), we did enjoy everything else. They got Penguins, a Rainforest dome (where we witnessed a butterfly getting attacked by the fish after it somehow got stuck on the surface of the water) and an albino alligator.

Shareena and I also managed to stop by Seattle earlier this month and avoided the rain (for the most part). We stayed at the wonderful Greenlake Guest House (which was right across the street from the lake/park) and managed to hike in the Cascade mountains (and spotted a woodpecker along the way – see if you can spot it…it was pretty dark in the forest).

Here are some more pictures:

Seeing the date of the last set of photos, I really do feel lazy.

Football Fun

November 1st, 2004 yoshers

Thanks to being an employee of the University of California at Berkeley, and thanks to our football program showing much promise, I got to enjoy my first game (yes, watching us go 1-11 while I was actually attending school was not my idea of fun) at Memorial Stadium as our Golden Bears shut out the Arizona State Sun Devils 27-0. Thanks also to Shareena for braving the cold (which was probably why neither offenses look particularly good on the day) and coming out to watch the game with me. Despite the cold and some annoying people behind us, we managed to have a good time.

I must say that while the experience of being at the game is unique, I really missed being close to the action and seeing instant replays. Yes, there is a semi-large screen at the stadium that shows some replays, but you often had a hard time understanding what happened…until the announcer says something about it. For example, the long field goal attempted by Cal early on that was apparently rejected not by the crossbar, but by the TV camera installed for the TBS broadcast (which idiot thought that was a good idea anyways? and there wasn’t even one at the other end…) made everyone at the stadium bemoan the result of a missed kick. At least the overrule was in our favor, but it just feels like you are a step behind the game.

Nevertheless, it was great to watch us shutout ASU and be in the midst of our march to national prominence. So down with Oklahoma and Auburn…so we can play USC again for the national championship (even if it is in Miami for the Orange Bowl…I love the BCS).
