Enter the chaotic world of Kevin Chan (aka Yoshi, Chanman and Jesus)

I guess time passes just as fast when you are at work or at school. One day blends into the next and the next thing you know, it is summer time again.

I went through a phase last month where I was having “post-nasal drip”, basically having a running nose except all the drippage goes down the back of your mouth and throat. After about a week of this annoyance, I decided to go see a doctor (well, since I am in an HMO, this means a nurse practitioner) and I was diagnosed with allergies. (In addition, the nurse found that my heart was beating funny and after further tests, she basically said that my ventrical was working in a funny way, but it is nothing to worry about. Heh, nothing to worry about…)

Anyways, I was not very thrilled about being diagnosed with allergies, but I went and bought the recommended medicine of nasal spray! After using it for a day or two, I started to cough severely and decided maybe this was not such a good idea. So after another week of coughing, my “allergies” also went away. Well, maybe I only had allergies for a week, but I doubt it.

Negotiating

  1. There is never a good time to bring up something that is unpleasant. If they are already mad, you will make them madder. If they are happy, you will make them mad. No win situation there.
  2. Sometimes it is surprisingly easy how something you thought would be difficult to obtain or negotiate will work out just right or be resolved without much trouble. The lesson here is that you need to bring a problem up first before it ever gets resolved.
  3. Other times, you can do nothing further besides bringing it up. So just let the river run its course. Do you really think harassing someone over and over again about an issue is going to make that person more likely to help you out?
